Jan 21, 2018 Dayhike Buckeye Trail Leesville Lake Bowerstown, Oh Carroll Co ( potluck dinner after hike ) 1:00 pm (Kim)
__While at our August dayhike at Ott's Lost Forest, I met our host's nephew & niece (Keith and Danielle Ott). They own the Leesville Lake Marina and invited the club to hike the Buckeye Trail right behind them. They also generously offered the use of their large customer lounge area so that we could have another wonderful potluck like we did at Ott's Lost Forest. Plenty of tables, chairs, and outlets for crockpots. June will bring paper plates, cups, napkins, and plastic utensils. Bring a dish to share and your own beverage.
__We will hike about 5 miles. Trail is just a bit more rugged than usual, so bring your hiking sticks/poles. I also recommend hiking boots for good ankle support. The halfway point will put us right behind the marina, so if somebody needs/wants to shorten their hike, they can head to the marina and stir the food:) There is absolutely zero cell reception in the area, so if you are running late or get lost, you won't be able to reach me by phone. The marina is very easy to find, but if you are late for whatever reason, you can always join us at our halfway point right behind the marina. Or, you might be able to reach the Ott's on the marina phone.
__Directions: From I-77, take Exit #93 (Bolivar) and go east on 212. Follow the jogs of 212 for about 20 miles (you will pass Atwood Lake). Then, right after the town of Sherrodsville, turn left on Deer Road (there is a large Leesville Lake sign). After almost a mile, you will dead end at Azalea. Turn right and then an immediate left to stay on Deer Road (there is another Leesville Lake sign here, too). Stay on Deer Road and you will dead end at Marina. ____If you are from Dover area, you can take either 39E to 212E or Route 800 to 212E and follow above directions .__Driving time: 50 minutes from Canton; 80 minutes from Wooster; 32 minutes from Dover

Jan 1, 2018 News Years Day Hike and Indoor Picnic (Ken and Cheryl) 1:30pm
__Meet at our house 1:30pm. Cheryl will lead a hike at Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center which is 10 minutes away. Come back and eat...it's what we do! It looks like it will be cold with high only around 15 degrees. Dress warm. Bring YakTraks and poles. Hike will be short...no more than 2-1/2 miles but is hilly. I will have the fireplace roaring when you get back. If anyone would like to come but not hike you can just stay here by the fire with Ken until the others get back.
__Food: Bring something to share. We will have the pie-irons and roasting sticks in case you want a turkey dog.
__ Contact K & C for questions and directions.
_Please call ahead if you decide to come so we have an idea how many are coming. We are not sure what to expect.
